This privacy policy statement regulates the commitment of VMNO Telecom Inc. to safeguard its customers and users (“you”).

VMNO is a registered trademark, with the address at Suite 2300, 2850 Shaughnessy St., Port Coquitlam, BC, V3C6K5, Canada. VMNO is privately owned and registered in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, (Registry ID: BC1028101) and Business Number (BN): 814812194. References in this privacy to “VMNO,” “we,” “us,” and “our” are to VMNO Telecom Inc.

About our privacy policy

Our privacy policy informs you concerning how we utilize, protect and disclose your data, which we collect operating offline means (e.g. via phone, post, in-person meetings and other correspondence) and online means, such as any website or mobile application owned or operated by us, including the sub-domains, blogs and programs included in http://vmno.ca (collectively, the “Site”).

You acknowledge that your private data (including data collected through your use of our services and the site) will be collected, stored, shared, and processed according to our privacy policy.

The site may contain links to other third-party websites or applications. Please be knowledgeable that such websites and applications may collect information about you, and they may have their privacy notices or policies. We encourage you to be mindful when you leave our site and read the privacy statements of each website and application you use.

VMNO does not own or operate any linked third-party websites or applications you visit. We cannot be held responsible or liable for the websites’ or applications’ content, any use of the websites or applications, or the privacy and security practices and policies of those websites or applications.

Personal information collected

VMNO collects the following data. Please note that we may combine personal data collected from different sources such, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Personal data is provided voluntarily, which includes account registration and interactions (e.g. reviews, feedback, comments, testimonials, etc.). Personal data may include your name, email address, other contact details, login/account information, business information, marketing preferences and additional information you may provide as part of your account profile. We collect all data you provide to us when you post a testimonial, feedback, review or comment on our blogs. This personal data may include all data mentioned above and photos, documents, files, texts that you upload and other personal data contained in your post. We do not access photos on your device or cameras unless you allow us to do so. When you eventually allow us, you can manage your pictures and camera settings at any time by changing the settings on your mobile device. Please be aware that anyone may read, collect, and use any information you post in a testimonial, feedback, review or comment. Therefore, please do not post anything you do not wish others may access.
  2. Mail and Post – When you contact us for any reason, we collect personal data, and we will typically keep a record of such communication exchange. This personal data may include your name and contact information, account information, order information, queries, and other personal data you may choose to provide to us.
  3. Anti-fraud information. – We may collect personal data related to the financial situation, creditworthiness, and criminal or fraudulent activities, including information that establishes your identity (such as driving licences, passports and utility bills), information about transactions, credit ratings from credit reference agencies, fraud, offences and suspicious transactions, that include your details.
  4. Social media information – VMNO maintains a presence on social media platforms, including but not limited to LinkedIn, Facebook, Slideshare, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube. We collect personal data when you interact on social media. Please note that these social media platforms may set cookies and other tracking technologies on your device when you visit their pages and navigate them. Social media platforms may provide us with information generally used for statistical purposes. These social media platforms will also be data controllers of your data. For more information regarding how social media platforms collect and use your data, we encourage you to visit their respective privacy policies and cookies policies on their respective websites.
  5. Survey and contest information – VMNO collects data where you fill questionnaires and surveys that we may use for research purposes and where you choose to enter contests that we run. This personal data may include your name and contact information and other personal data you choose to provide us.
  6. Information stored on a Device – We may access metadata and other information associated with other files stored on your computer, tablet, mobile phone, or any other device (referred generally as a “Device”) such as IP address, domain name, browser version, operating system, traffic data, weblogs and other data, and device identifiers. We may also collect photos, videos, Touch ID and Face ID login abilities and session IDs for third-party service providers such as payment providers (“Device Information”). To the extent required by any applicable law, we ask for your consent before collecting any Device Information. Please note that we may associate Device Information with your account. In addition, we may combine information that we have collected about you.
  7. Location Information – With your permission, we may collect information about the general location.
  8. Collection and use of public information – We may also collect, use, store, transfer, share, and disclose your publicly available data for the purposes set out in this privacy policy statement.
  9. Children – VMNO intends to operate the website for adult users only, and it does not sell products intended for purchase by children. Therefore, we do not purposely or intentionally collect personal data from children. We sell any youth-oriented products for purchase by adults only. Please only use this site if you are aged 18 or over.
Purpose and use of your personal information

We may use your data for various business purposes, which we have set out below.

  1. To conduct our business and provide you with our services and access to our site.
  2. To communicate with you (about updates and changes) and provide customer support.
  3. For fraud prevention.
  4. To allow you to use any interactive features of the site.
  5. To ensure our Site content is relevant and to maintain the security of our site.
  6. For research and development purposes.
  7. To administer contests.
  8. To provide you with marketing materials.
  9. Mobile applications and website analytics.
  10. To enforce our terms and in connection with legal or regulatory obligations.
  11. To re-organize or make changes to our business.
Cookies and Similar Technology

Such data and communications are provided by various means, including emails, SMS and “push notifications” on Devices (where enabled), web forms, instant messages, fax and phone calls. We may record calls for training and monitoring purposes.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small text file generated by a website, including the site, and stored on your device. Several cookies used by VMNO and third parties are sent to your browser and held on your device when you access the site. Next, VMNO will use this information to recognize and remember your device when you revisit the website. Cookies are helpful for various purposes, including allowing you to navigate between pages efficiently and allowing us to remember preferences and improve your user experience. Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device after you close your browser. Cookies set by VMNO are first-party cookies.

VMNO sends you only the following cookies when you visit the site.

  1. Strictly necessary cookies – essential to enable you to move around the site and use its features and cannot be turned off. Without these cookies, we cannot provide the services you have asked for (such as navigating between pages, placing an order and using a shopping cart or e-billing services). You cannot disable these cookies.
  2. Performance cookies – We use performance cookies to analyze how our visitors use the site and monitor the site’s performance to provide a high user experience by customizing our offering and quickly identifying and fixing any issues that arise.
  3. Functional cookies – We use these cookies to provide you with certain functionality on the site, such as improving our services, maintaining security on the website and preventing and detecting fraud, customizing your account, and displaying certain web page content based upon your browser type and other device information.
  4. Other tracking technologies – We may utilize other tracking technologies to understand how you access and use our site and services in conjunction with cookies. These tracking technologies may include:
    • Log files and IP address – An IP address is a numeric code that identifies your computer on the Internet. We use device information and IP addresses (and ask for confirmation if this is correct) to analyze trends, administer the site, track user movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use. We may store the data in log files (i.e. files that record events) or other types of files.
    • Web Beacons and pixels – The site and our emails and advertisements may contain web beacons. A web beacon is a small graphic image, such as a pixel or GIF, which is placed on a web page, email, or advertisement and provides information on when and how you access and use the site and services and emails. VMNO may use this information for developing statistical information and determining features that most interest you to provide more personalized content. We may use this information to determine which of our emails are more interesting to you and whether you wish to continue receiving such emails if you do not open them. When you delete the email, you automatically delete the pixel. If you do not want to download the pixel to your device, you should select to receive emails in plain text rather than HTML, not click links that we send you. You can opt-out of receiving marketing emails and our newsletters by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link located at the bottom of all VMNO marketing emails or sending an email to info@vmno.ca requesting to be removed or by contacting us by any other means. Please allow up to thirty (30) days for your request to be processed. Please note that even if you opt-out of receiving marketing emails, you may still receive communications from us that are important and/or related to your interactions with us, or otherwise as required by law.

“Do Not Track Signals”

Some web browsers have a “Do Not Track” feature that, when turned on, signals to websites the user visits that the user does not want to be tracked. The site does not respond to “Do Not Track” signals or similar mechanisms.

Consent

In some countries, you consent to accept cookies and other similar tracking technologies following this cookies policy by using the website.

VMNO must collect your consent for many of the cookies and tracking technologies we use in other countries. Where this is the case, you will see a pop-up to this effect on your first visit to the site. Although the pop-up may not usually appear on subsequent visits, you may withdraw your consent at any time by following the instructions below.

Managing and disabling cookies on the site

You can manage cookies through your browser’s settings (http://allaboutcookies.org explains how to do this). However, we encourage you to accept cookies as some of the functionalities in the VMNO website and the services we provide may not function with disabled cookies.

If you use a smartphone, you can usually prevent cross-site tracking and block Cookies in the settings section on your device. You may also visit websites without leaving a history by turning private browsing “on.” You may visit the support section of the website of your device for more information on how to do this.

Whom we share your data and why.

Concerning individuals located in Canada, in such cases where we share or disclose your personal data for the purposes set out in section 4 above to third-party service providers, VMNO’s agreements shall require the third-party service providers to keep your data secure. We may share or disclose your data for the purposes set out in section 4  above to third parties. These third parties include:

  1. Service providers – merchant banks for authorization and approval to process your credit card information to complete your orders/transactions. Third-party companies perform order fulfillment, package delivery, marketing assistance, postal and email delivery, customer service, data analysis, credit processing, and IT cloud and hosting providers.
  2. Advisors – legal, financial, business or other advisors.
  3. Marketplace platform sellers/users – Third-party sellers offer products for sale through Newegg’s Marketplace platform, and we will share your data with such sellers when you use the Marketplace platform.
  4. Other site users – As mentioned above, any personal data you make available publicly, such as your reviews, comments, or testimonials, will be shared with other site users.
  5. Affiliated companies – We may share data collected with our subsidiaries and affiliates. As our business evolves, we may acquire, establish or sell business units or subsidiaries. Customer data is one of the business assets transferred in these transactions. VMNO uses your data according to this privacy policy in such a situation.
  6. Third parties as required by law or regulation – We may disclose your data as required by law or regulation and when we believe that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights and/or comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process served on VMNO.
  7. Third-party marketing companies – Subject to your marketing preferences and settings, we may share your data with third-party companies that may, among other things, use your data to provide you with targeted advertisements and special offers. You can opt-out of receiving marketing emails by clicking the “Unsubscribe” link located at the bottom of all Newegg marketing emails or emailing info@vmno.ca with a request to be removed from contacting us by any other means. Please allow up to thirty (30) days to process your request. Please note that even if you opt-out of receiving marketing emails, you may still receive communications from us that are important and/or related to your interactions with us, or otherwise as required by law.
How do we protect your personal data

Security – No data transmission over the Internet or websites can be guaranteed to be secure from intrusion. However, VMNO makes reasonable efforts to protect customers’ data. If you have any questions or concerns about Newegg’s security practices, email us at info@vmno.ca.

Safeguarding account information – To ensure that your username and password remain confidential, we encourage you not to share this information with anyone.

Collection and use of non-personal information

VMNO may collect, use, store, transfer, share, and disclose non-personal information (subject to applicable law).

International transfers of personal data

Transfers outside of Canada – Given that VMNO has located servers and offices in Canada. Still, we may use servers located in other countries from time to time, and we may collect, process, store, share and transfer your data in other countries for the purposes set out in section 4 of the privacy policy. As a result, your data may be accessible to the designated country’s law enforcement and national security authorities for individuals in Canada.

In addition, please note that where you purchase products from a Marketplace seller, your data will be provided to this seller. Such sellers can be located anywhere globally, and your data may be accessible to law enforcement and national security authorities where the Marketplace seller is located.

We have put in place contractual and technical safeguards designed to ensure that your personal data is safely stored, processed and/or accessed by third-party service providers when transferred outside of Canada. VMNO shall require the third-party service providers to keep your data secure and use such data only to provide services.

General overseas transfers – VMNO has located servers and offices in Canada, but we may use servers located in other countries from time to time. As a result, we may collect, process, store, share and transfer your data where our servers are located. We may also share your data elsewhere globally as a global organization. In addition, please note that in instances where you purchase products from the Marketplaces where we are present with a store and a seller account, your data will be provided to this seller. Such sellers can be located globally, and their staff or suppliers may access your data. However, we will make efforts to ensure that your data transferred outside your home country is safe in line with this privacy policy.

List your rights

VMNO operates in countries with data protection laws that provide different rights to individuals regarding access, deletion, rectification, and the limited processing of personal information. When you submit a request to exercise your rights, we must check your entitlement before answering your request. Please note that your rights may be subject to certain exemptions in applicable data protection law(s). In general, the following rights are likely available to you regardless of where you are located:

  • The right to stop receiving marketing communication – for further information, please see section 12 below; and
  • the right to require us to update any inaccuracies in the data we hold. Please keep your account information up to date to assist us with this. You can do this by following the steps in section 12 below.
  • In addition, you may, under certain conditions, have the right to request to:
  • be provided with details about what personal data, whether your data has been transferred to a third party, and to be provided with a copy of your data; and
  • withdraw your consent (where relevant).

Your exercise of these rights is subject to certain exemptions.

To submit a request regarding your data by email, post or telephone, please use the contact information in the section “Contac us” on our website. Please note that you can easily access your profile information, order history, payment options, and shipping address book through your account.

11 How long do we keep your personal data.

VMNO based personal data retention periods on business and legal requirements.

We will retain your data while using it for purposes described in section 4 above. We may retain it after we have ceased such uses for specific legitimate business purposes. For example, if you have opted out of marketing communications from us, we will retain little details about you to ensure we can honour your opt-out request. We may also keep your data to meet our legal requirements or defend or exercise our legal rights.

The length of time we will retain your data depends on our purposes for keeping it. After we no longer need to maintain your data, we will delete it or securely destroy it following our records retention policy.

Change or review your information and preferences

You may change or check your account information and settings for the following:

Account Information – When you register and create a VMNO account, you enter your email address. This email address is your VMNO ID and the information you use to log in to the website. To change your email address and VMNO ID, please go to Account Settings under your account dashboard.

Marketing communications – At the time of your order, you may choose to receive marketing communications and special offers and news by clicking the appropriate field.

If you receive marketing communications, special offers, or news, but you wish to stop receiving such communications, VMNO provides several ways to do so. You can manage your marketing communication preferences via your Account Settings if you are a registered user. In addition, you may send an email to info@vmno.ca with your request to remove your data or contact us as per section 1 above.

You may also use the link provided in all VMNO marketing communications to unsubscribe automatically. We acknowledge that you may still receive non-marketing service communications.

Change or review your technical preferences

Cookie Settings – You can manage cookies through your browser’s settings.

Push Notifications – If you currently receive “push notifications” and wish to stop receiving them, you can deactivate these notifications by changing the settings on your mobile device.

Updates to this privacy policy

We regularly review and update this privacy policy as our services and use of personal data evolve. If these changes are material, we will take steps to inform you of them.

We will update the date of this document each time it is changed.

If you have any questions or complaints about your information, don’t hesitate to contact us directly at info@vmno.ca, and we will check your entitlement. If VMNO has to deny your request, we will advise you of the reason for the refusal.

If you are not satisfied with how we have addressed your complaint or concerns, you can contact your appropriate data, privacy regulator. If you are located in Canada, your applicable data privacy regulator is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or a local, provincial privacy regulator.
